MULTAN, Jan 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Jan, 2017 ) : Agriculture Department is actively engaged in completing a survey of ginning factories across Punjab and has issued warning to all those factories where enemy pests were found in cotton trash to destroy the waste or else be ready to face action.
An Agriculture Department spokesman, in a statement here Monday, said that enemy cotton pests or bollworms utilise cotton waste or trash as their habitat at the ginning factories and these can become a threat to the next cotton crop.
The survey being conducted by cotton inspectors was undergoing final stages and factory owners have been told to ensure that all their cotton waste must be destroyed to eliminate chances of attack by the enemy pests on the next cotton crop.
Moreover, the Punjab government has also imposed ban on cotton sowing before April 15, spokesman said adding that farmers should embark on cotton sowing after Apr 15 to keep the crop safe from pests that may attack the crop in case of sowing before the said date.
