The Hague, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2019 ) :Dutch violin maestro Andre Rieu on Tuesday pledged 700 tonnes of steel to help rebuild Paris' Notre-Dame cathedral after it was gutted by a fire.

"Deeply shocked by the dramatic images from Paris," tweeted Rieu, often called the "King of Waltz".

"We would like to provide our 700 tonnes of steel, used for the set of Schoenbrunn Castle, to help erect the scaffold for the restoration of beautiful Notre-Dame," said Rieu, who posed with a picture of the steel.

The violinist took to the road with his biggest concert tour to date in 2007-08.

Called "A Romantic Vienna Night," the decor included a life-size replica of the Imperial Schoenbrunn Palace and is said to be the largest touring stage in the world, according to Dutch news agency ANP.

The set included fountains, an ice rink and a ballroom full of dancers and even a gold-plated state carriage.

The elaborate production cost Rieu 34 million Pounds (39.2 million Euros), according to the Guardian newspaper.
