Saira Peter enthralls audience at National Music Mela

Pakistan's first Sufi Opera star singer Saira Peter on Sunday evening enthralled audience with fusion of eastern and western tunes at the ongoing seven-day National Music Mela, organized here by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA)

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2019 ):Pakistan's first Sufi Opera star singer Saira Peter on Sunday evening enthralled audience with fusion of eastern and western tunes at the ongoing seven-day National Music Mela, organized here by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

Saira Peter sang "Suunway Balori Ankh Walia" and "Wada Karoo Sajna", and got a big applause from the audience at the open air theatre of PNCA.

The Raga Boyz of the famous Patiyala Gharana performed music genres like pop, rock, Sufi music and classical fusion music. The audience listened to their songs "Maan Kuntum Maula", "Nain Saay Nain Melay Rakhna" and "Manu Tere Jeya Sona" spellbound.

Jia Nouman, a popular pop singer entertained the listeners with her melodious songs like "Yaad Sajan Di", "Chal Dil Mere", "Tali Daay Thalay". She also sang duets with Nouman Lashari - "Hona Tha Piyar", & "Disco Deewanay", while Nouman Lashari performed "Keh Dena" and "Yaaro Yeh Hi Dosti Hay".

Aafi, Bilal, Shehryar and Yawar of the Bakshi group also performed. Zeeshan was on the Dholak, Sherry Bakshi on the acoustic guitar, Yawar Bakshi on the harmonium, support singer Angel Shmaeel on bass, Nadir Hussain on the Dhol, and Aafi and Bilal Bakhshi perfomred as vocalists.

Usman Raees gave an excellent performance playing with the melodies creating a charm around the listeners, while Rashid Ahmed Khan (Uqab Group) from KPK gave them the flare of western and local music.

Awais Iqbal Niazi stole the night with his songs "Jaanan", "Raday Gul", "Jugnoon Saay Bherlain Anchal", and Medley.

The musical night was enjoyed by a sizeable crowd from the twin cities.

Speaking on the occasion, PNCA Director General Jamal Shah said the modern music and art was not a conspiracy, but a form of truth and integrity for those who practiced it honestly, decently and with all their being.

He said the Pakistani pop music referred to popular music forms in the country Pakistan and a mixture of traditional classical music and western influences of jazz, rock and roll, hip hop and disco sung in various languages of Pakistan, including Urdu.

"The Pakistani pop music has also achieved an influential following and popularity in the neighboring countries and is listened by members of the Pakistani diaspora, especially in the Middle East, Europe and North America," he added.
