Humam Ahmad Muhammad Hamza Of Pakistan Reaches US Junior Open Finals

Humam Ahmad and Muhammad Hamza of Pakistan took berth into the semi-finals of the US 2018 Junior Open Squash Championship being played at Andover, Boston, USA on Tuesday.
Both Humam Ahmad and Muhammad Hamza Khan made upsetting defeat to their strong rivals and moved to the grand finals of the Under-13 and Under-15 categories.
It was the quarter-final where Humam Ahmad of Pakistan recorded a stamping victory against top seeded Salem Youssef from Egypt with a game score of 13-11, 9-11, 8-11, 11-8 and 13-11.
Humam won the first set by 13-11 before saving three sets point at 9-9, 10-11 and 11-11 before winning the set 13-11. After victory in the first set, Humam lost an edge and lost two sets at 9-11 and 8-11 but he staged a strong come back and won the fourth set by 11-8.
After winning the fourth set, he did the same by saving three match points against his strong rival top seeded Salem Youssef from Egypt at 9-all, 10-10 and 11-11.
After upsetting his strong rival from Eygpt, Humam Ahmad from Pakistan beat Ahmad Haq from USA in the semi-final with a game score of 11-7, 11-6 and 11-9. Humam will now face Rohan A Gondhi from India in the final.
In the Under-15 quarter-final Muhammad Hamza Khan from Pakistan beat Mohamed Abdullah from Egypt by 11-9, 11-9 and 12-10 in another thrilling match whereas, Carney Tedd from USA beat Noor Zaman from Pakistan with a game score of 6-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, 12-10.
After victory in the semi-final, Muhammad Hamza Khan from Pakistan beat top seed of the event Sosa Federico from Mexico by 11-5, 11-9, and 11-5.
Muhammad Hamza Khan will play against Carney Tedd from USA in the final.
Meanwhile, Pakistan squash contingent comprising of Haris Qasim, Farhan Hashmi, Asad Ullah Khan, Muhammad Ashab Irfan and Anas Ali Shah departed from Islamabad Tuesday for participation in the forthcoming British Junior Squash Championship, 2019 at Birmingham. Contingent manager Air Commodore (Retd) Aftab Sadiq Qureshi along with Coaches Mohammad Yasin and Fazal Shah also accompanied the contingent.
The Championship would be played between January 2-6, 2019.
However, before entering into the Championship, PSF selected players would remain under training for 10 days in UK so that they could perform well and produce outstanding results during the Championship. Additional players (Abbas Zeb, Mohammad Hamza Khan, Noor Zaman and Humam Ahmad) who are currently playing in US Junior Championship would also join them in training at UK before playing BritishJunior Championship, 2019.
