SYDNEY, , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2017 ) - Queensland left out Test fullback Billy Slater and preferred Darius Boyd on Monday for this month's State of Origin rugby league opener against New South Wales in Brisbane.
Gene Miles, the Maroons chief selector, described the omission of the 27-Origin veteran Slater as the "toughest decision we've had to make" and almost brought Queensland coach Kevin Walters to tears at the official team announcement.
Slater, 34 next month, was the shock omission as both teams were announced for the May 31 opening game of the three-match series, regarded as the pinnacle contest in world rugby league.
