Procedure to Visit Madina (Islamic)

Muslims are always anxious to go to Madinah. The blessed tomb of the last Prophet of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), is also in the Masjid-e-Nabwi in the same city. Medina City

The history of the city of Madinah is more than fourteen hundred years old. Medina city is located in Saudi Arabia. The old name of this city was Yathrib. It was renamed after the advent of Islam, and today it is known as Madinat-ul-Munawwarah.

According to Islamic tradition, there are three Holy places for Muslims, Makkah, Jerusalem, and the third one is Madinah. The city of Madinah ranks second among these Holy cities. The Prophet's Mosque (Masjid-e-Nabvi) is the most famous in this city, built by the last Prophet of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) himself. It was founded in 622 AD and continued to be built over time.

This city is also the burial place of the Last Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). If any Muslim goes with the intention of Hajj or Umrah, then he must visit this city.

This city existed 1500 years before the Prophet Muhammad migrated from Makkah to Madinah, and at that time, it was known as Hijrah. Many people who migrated from Makkah to Madinah settled here permanently. The people of Madinah were generous, and they generously helped the emigrants. That is why the people of Madinah were called Ansar, and the others were emigrants. At that time, this city was the only center for a growing Muslim population, where all the important matters related to the propagation of Islam were being carried out.

There are currently three famous mosques in Madinah, Masjid Nabvi, Masjid al-Qiblatayn, and Masjid Qubaa. Masjid Qubaa is the first built in the history of Islam and is very old. Step by Step Procedure to Visit Madina

Muslims, no matter where they live in the world, are always anxious to go to Madinah. From this city, the rays of Islam had spread everywhere. The blessed tomb of the last Prophet of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), is also in the Masjid-e-Nabwi in the same city. The great sacrifices of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his companions are associated with this city.

A visit to this city refreshes the faith of Muslims. It strengthens the faith of Islam in their hearts.

The pilgrimage to Madinah is not made as a rite of Hajj or Umrah. The city automatically attracts the pilgrims because of the tomb of the Holy Prophet and its virtues. Step 1: Make the intention of visiting Madina

It is often said that the lucky ones travel to Madinah. If you have the opportunity to travel to the city of Madinah, then, first of all, make a sincere intention to travel to this city.

O, Allah! I start this journey with a sincere heart and with the complete intention of visiting the holy tomb of Your noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Accept it with your kindness.

Recite Darud Sharif frequently in this journey. When you see that you are entering the city of Madinah, do not make unnecessary superstitions, but express your enthusiasm and passion through literature. Enter humbly, offering Salam and Darud to your beloved Prophet (PBUH).

Step 2: Departure towards Masjid-e-Nabvi

Masjid-e-Nabvi, built by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself, is the third Masjid in the history of Islam. The land of Masjid-e-Nabvi belonged to two orphans. The two children donated the land to the mosque, but the Prophet (PBUH) refused to take it. Hazrat Abu Ayub Ansari (RA) bought this land and donated it for the contribution of the mosque. Every Caliph of the time added to the beauty of this Masjid and continued to build and repair it.

It is currently the largest mosque in the world and the second holiest site after the Masjid al-Haram. According to Islamic history, all important matters of the Muslims were settled in Masjid Nabvi. It was a center for Islamic teachings, Quranic teaching, and other religious activities. When you visit this place, you must keep in mind some important points.

  1. After entering Madina, keep your belongings at your place of residence. Do not take them inside the Masjid Nabvi with you.
  2. Then take a bath (Ghusl) and perform ablutions (Vudu) before going to the tomb of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
  3. Wear nice and clean clothes.
  4. Use perfume (Atar) and leave for Masjid-e-Nabvi by reciting Darud Sharif.

Step 3: Enter from Bab-e-Jibril

Bab-e-Jibril is the door from which Hazrat Jibril (AS) used to descend on Holy Prophet (PBUH) with the Wahi. So, try to enter the Masjid-e-Nabvi from Bab-e-Jibril or Bab-us-Salam. If not, then choose any other gate for entrance.

Step 4: Enter with the Right Foot

When you visit a loved one, you usually try not to make a mistake. Do the same with love for the Prophet (PBUH). So, when entering, be sure to enter with the right foot. And keep your tongue wet with the remembrance of Allah by these words (Subhan Allah, Alhamdu Lillah, Allahu Akbar). Pray to enter the Mosque along with Darud.

Step 5: Perform Two Raka’ts of Nafl

Madinah is a place where everyone wants to pray. Of course, only the lucky ones get this opportunity. If you are one of those lucky ones, then you must pray here because the Prophet (PBUH) offered the most prayers in this mosque. He (PBUH) had a great love with the mosque and the city of Madinah. So, try to say prayers here.

If there is no Makrooh time, then perform two Rak'ats of Nafl after entering the Mosque. Try to do the Nawafil near the burial place of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in Riaz al-Jannah. If it is not possible, Pay it at another Place nearby.

Step 6: Tombs of the Esteemed Companions

There are three brass nets in front of the Holy Tomb of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and there are holes in these brass nets. Large perforated lattice is on one side, and two small perforated lattices on one side. Between them, there is a door that stays closed. The large hole on one side of the door is in front of the Prophet's face. On the other side of the door, the first is in front of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA), and the second is in front of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA).

The belief in love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is that when you stand in front of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), greet him with the utmost politeness and respect and then offer Darud Sharif. At the same time, use some words that are worthy of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Read and offer any greetings you remember here.

After all, pray to Allah and ask for the good of this world and the Hereafter.

Step 7: Offer Salam from others

Everyone wants to go to Madinah and come to the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah Be Upon Him). That is why when people go for Hajj or Umrah, many people ask them to greet and pray on their behalf. So, after offering your Salam, now offer Salam of friends and relatives who asked you to do it. When offer Salam, also mention the name of these friends and relatives.

Step 8: Salam on First Caliph of Muslims

On the right side of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), there is the grave of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA), the first Caliph of Muslims. He (RA) became the first Calipha Rashdin of the Muslims after the death of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He was the first man who embraced Islam. Islamic history is full of her unparalleled sacrifices. He was also the closest companion and relative of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

After Holy Prophet (PBUH), he ruled for two years, two months, and fourteen days and died due to illness. His rank is the highest among the companions. So, greet him and ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy on him. Pray for yourself through them too.

Step 9: Salam on Second Caliph of Muslims

On the right side of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA), there is the grave of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA), the second Caliph of Muslims. After the death of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA), he became the Caliph of Muslims. He (RA) was the most powerful and influential Caliph in the history of Islam. He spread Islam far and wide in his time and was very famous for his justice.

Once someone sued his son, he decided on the requirements of justice. He (RA) was very much afraid of Allah in the matter of the people. He (RA) used to say that if a dog was found dead by the river during my reign, I would have to answer it on the Day of Judgment.

When you are present in front of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA), greet him humbly and pray.

Step 10: Offer Forty Prayers in Masjid-e-Nabvi

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to offer prayers mostly out of love for the Masjid Nabvi. That is why, according to common traditions, men should offer 40 prayers in Masjid-e-Nabvi. According to some traditions, it is not necessary. It is Mustahab that if it is recited, it is a reward, and if it is not recited, it is not a sin.

Step 11: Other places to visit

Except for Masjid-e-Nabvi, there are many other places to visit in Madinah. Some famous are Masjid Quba, Masjid Qiblatain, Jannat al-Baqee, Uhud Mount, graves of historical Sahabaas, like Hazrat Hamza (RA) and Martyres of the Battle of Uhud are also there.

Visiting the Masjid Quba

As we have mentioned above about the Masjid Quba, it is the first mosque built in the history of Islam. It was founded by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself on the occasion of his migration to Madinah. It is at some distance from Madinah. The first Friday prayer was offered here, under the leadership of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), and it is also mentioned in the Holy Quran.

According to Islamic tradition, the Prophet (PBUH) used to pray in this place once a week and always perform ablutions (Vudu) from home. Performing two rak'ats of Nafl in Masjid Quba is equivalent to one Umrah. You must pray here. Those who come for Hajj or Umrah should also visit this place and ask for prayers here.

Visiting the Masjid al-Qiblatayn

The Masjid al-Qiblatayn is the mosque where the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was ordered to change his Qiblah. That is why this is called Masjid al-Qiblatayn. Here Allah commanded His Prophet to prostrate from Jerusalem to Makkah. It is one of the oldest mosques in Madinah and was built in 623 AD. When you visit other places, you must go here. Offer prayers here as in every place, and make Dua.

Visiting the Janat ul-Baqi

This world is a temporary abode, and the cemetery is the last abode of every human being. Visiting cemeteries is a means of keeping one's heart soft and remembering the Hereafter. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also ordered to visit graves so that people may remember death and know the fact that there is another world after this world.

Janat ul-Baqi is the cemetery of Madinah city. It is the place where the wives and close relatives of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and many of the companions are buried. The visit to Janat ul-Baqi is reminiscent of the tireless work of the Companions and the great sacrifices made in the cause of Islam.

When you go to visit this place, pray:

O Allah, have mercy on us with their charity and help us to follow them.

Also, pray for their forgiveness and mercy.

Visiting Mount Uhud

A second battle took place between the Muslims and the infidels on the outskirts of Mount Uhud. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was severely wounded in this battle until some people spread the news of His death. Many of the Propet's companions (Sahabas) and relatives were also wounded in this great war. The purpose of visiting Mount Uhud is to greet these great people and remember the sacrifices of the martyrs.

When you visit the graves of martyrs, you must pray. In prayer, ask Allah to forgive them, have mercy on them, and be pleased with them.

Step 12: Departure from Madinat-ul-Munawwarh

The more impatient and restless a person is for a journey to Madinah, the more depressed he is on his return. Returning to the place he has been waiting for for years is extremely painful for him. Therefore, when you are ready to return from Madinah, once again greet the Prophet (PBUH) and pray to Allah to return to him. And may Allah accept all the prayers asked for in this place.

Avoid doing Such Mistakes and Warnings When You Visit Madina

  1. According to you, the purpose of your trip to Medina is to visit the Masjid-e-Nabwi and the tomb of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), so do not do there any useless rituals.
  2. When going to Masjid Nabvi, take full care of your cleanliness. Do not use any kind of disgusting thing.
  3. After visiting the grave, pray to one side instead of being away from the place.
  4. When praying, do not ask the Prophet (PBUH) but pray to Allah through Him because supplicating the Prophet is a kind of shirk.
  5. It is haraam to go to the blessed tomb of the Holy Prophet and seek blessings on the four walls. Doing so is also a form of shirk.
  6. Do not raise your voice when you reach the tomb of the Prophet (PBUH).
  7. When you visit the blessed tomb of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), give others a chance after you. Do the same in other Holy Places.
