Kardinia Park, Geelong stadium, is an 81-year-old playing ground that hosts local and international matches. It is commonly known as GMHBA cricket ground due to its Geelong Medical and Hospital Benefits Association. It is located in South Geelong, in the Australian state of Victoria. 

The stadium is famous for holding the AFL club Geelong Football Club and A-League club Western United. The sitting capacity of the stadium currently is 36,000, which makes it the largest-seating capacity stadium in the region.

In the early years, football was played in the Kardinia Park stadium in the 19th century. In 2016, it was decided to start international cricket in the region, and the stadium was selected as a venue. The stadium hosted the second T20 International between Australia and Sri Lanka on 19 February 2016.

The stadium grounds allow spectators to witness memorable matches between two teams. Then in 2018, this stadium hosted the Women's Big Bash League. The stadium was ready to host the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was postponed and shifted to the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Ticket Price

You can buy the tickets for the matches from the Ticket Offices for Kardinia Park, Geelong, or GMHBA cricket ground. These offices are at its South, East, and West gates. You can also purchase these tickets online from the official ICC website. 

Further, ICC has offered other online purchase sources for the tickets. Tickets for group stage matches start from AUD 5 for kids and AUD 20 for adults. 

The ICC Twenty20 World Cup in 2022 tournament does have a COVID-19 refund policy. It allows the fans a 100% refund if a match is rescheduled, relocated, or canceled.

The straight boundary of the stadium is long, along with short runs in the fine-leg region. The end of the stadium is known as Church Street End, River End.

The current sitting capacity of the stadium for spectators is around 26,000. After the final expansion of the stadium, the sitting capacity of the stadium will rise to 40,000. Further, the record attendance in the stadium was 49,109 in 1952.

The stadium's dimensions are 170.0m x 115.0m. making it a perfect stadium for international cricket.

The pitch for the stadium is not perfect for the batting side. The batters cannot start the carnage right when they arrive at the pitch. On the other hand, bowlers need to play their spells intelligently. 

It makes the pitch perfect for both sides. But the key to success is to play intelligently; otherwise, either party has to listen to the music and noise of the cheering crowd.

Parking

Parking in the stadium is free for the spectators. The Kardinia Park Precinct parking is available on Moorabool Street, in front of the Sports House. Further, there is limited space for parking at the A3 car park. 

This parking is located in front of the Premiership Stand. Then, charged parking motorists can park their vehicles in 2P parking zones in central Geelong. The first hour of parking will be charged, while the other is free. In addition to these parking stands, the on-street parking in the Geelong area is free on weekends.
