MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Feb, 2018 ) :Commissioner Bilal Ahmad Butt on Wednesday ordered allocation of one per cent of the total development funds for establishment of new parks and renovation of older ones in all the four districts and tahsils in Multan division.

The Commissioner said this while presiding over a meeting via video link to review the pace of progress on the development schemes in Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran districts under annual development plan and Chief Minister's 'Saaf Dehaat' programme.

Director development Tanweer Iqbal said that one per cent from all the schemes would translate into a handsome amount of Rs 204.2 million which would be utilized for horticulture projects i.e establishment of new parks and renovation of older parks.

Bilal Butt ordered that 'Saaf Dehaat' programme should be completed positively before Feb 28. He said that dilapidated residential or school buildings should either be demolished or strengthened through necessary repair to keep the residents and school children safe.

He sought detailed reports from all the assistant commissioners about dilapidated buildings so that a decision can be taken on the next strategy.

Mayor Multan Naveedul Haq Arain said that all the chairmen of union councils should submit their development schemes before the steering committee after getting their approval from the House.

Director Development Tanweer Iqbal informed that 988 development schemes were being executed at a cost of Rs 36,247 million including 631 new schemes. He said that most of the schemes have been completed.

He said that 891 new class rooms have been built at 480 schools and overall 61 per cent work has been completed under Khaadim-e-Punjab School programme. He added that fifth phase of Khadim-e-Punjab rural road programme has also been completed.

Director local government Jam Baqa said that first phase of Chief Minister's Saaf Dehaat programme has been completed successfully and 'One-Time-Cleaning" certificates have been issued. About dilapidated buildings, he said that total 825 dangerous buildings have been demolished while another 724 strengthened through necessary repair.
