International Islamic University Islamabad And Maldives Universities Vow Bilateral Cooperation In Education

An educational delegation comprising of VCs and senior academicians lead by Dr. Amal Ali, Rector, MIANZ International College, Maldives visited International Islamic University Islamabad.
Islamabad, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Mar, 2018) : An educational delegation comprising of VCs and senior academicians lead by Dr. Amal Ali, Rector, MIANZ International College, Maldives visited International Islamic University Islamabad.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Masoom Yasinzai, Rector, IIUI warmly welcomed the delegation from Maldives and briefed about the salient features of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). He said that the establishment of Higher Education Commission in the country has changed the landscape of the universities in the country and presently there are 184 Universities in public and private sectors and this number is growing with the passage of time, he added that International Islamic University is the only one International University with its Islamic Character in Pakistan, which took its start with three faculties but now the university has grown into a kind of general universities and presently there are nine faculties including Usuluddin, Arabic, Shariah and Law, Faculty of Engineering, Management Sciences, Economics, Social sciences, Basic and Applied Sciences.
He added that higher education in the last ten to twelve years there are universities which are competing in the World globally. He told to the delegation that IIUI is not only for Pakistani students but it is for the entire Ummah under the charter of the OIC.
Students from across the World are studying in IIUI whereas; students from Maldives would also be supported in all of our educational programs which are being taught in IIUI. The head of delegation Dr.
Amal Ali said that many features of Maldives regarding education are quite parallel to Pakistan. She briefed about her country and told that Maldives is a small country which is comprised of tiny islands; the educational system of Republic of Maldives is constructed on colonial system.
She told that Maldives is on the way of progress in Higher Studies, while, all educational programs are being taught in English, Arabic and local languages.
She stressed that Maldives is in dire need of mutual cooperation with IIUI regarding higher education.
Dr. Amal appreciated female enrollment in engineering faculty while visiting Faculty of Engineering and Technology Female Campus. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousef Al Driaiweesh welcomed the delegation at Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD), IIUI's guest house during the dinner and said that it is a matter of pride that our brotherly countries academicians visited IIUI.
He added that bilateral relations would be strengthened if students from IIUI and students from Maldives are exchanged in flagship programs. He told to the delegation about the recent scholarships which were being awarded to the Maldives Students.
Dr. Draiweesh told that during his recent visit to Kuwait, he met with the influential's who vowed to give financial aid to IIUI as well as scholarships for students while, Dr. Draiweesh assured that, the University will further award 20 Scholarships to the students of Maldives.
He also offered students from Maldives to join Engineering Faculty of IIUI. Later, the delegation visited labs of Faculty of Engineering and Technology while Dean, FET, Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik briefed to the delegations about various projects of the Engineering Faculty in Computer Numeric Control lab, Power Plants Lab, Communication lab and Basic Electronics lab.
The delegation also visited Female Campus of the University where, Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Director Female Campus lead delegation to various faculties while, Dr. Abdul Hameed briefed about the newly established Al Farabi Research Complex where he briefed to the delegation about salient research work being conducted at Sulaiman Bin Abdullah Aba-Al-Khail, Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Science (CIRBS) and Center for Advanced Electronics and Photovoltaic Engineering (CAEPE).
At the end University Crest was presented to Head of delegation while, gifts from both sides were also exchanged on the occasion.
