ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jan, 2019 ) :The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani in Indian occupied Kashmir has expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiris particularly those lodged in New Delhi's Tihar Jail.
According to Kashmir media service, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said despite repeated reminders, the authorities seemed to be unconcerned and least bothered about the worst conditions these prisoners were facing.
He said a detainee Muzaffar Ahmed Dar, who is lodged in Tihar Jail for the past 10 years, is suffering from a serious ailment and is having unbearable pain but the jail administration is not listening to his horrifying cries. Instead of providing him medical care, he has been left to battle for his life, he said.
The APHC Chairman maintained that a person confined in four walls miles away from his family, under every law qualifies for a human treatment, but the revengeful attitude of the Indian rulers has blinded them to the extent that they forget their obligations and legal responsibilities to ensure the safety of the prisoner.
He said the Kashmiri detainees are denied basic and fundamental facilities like medical aid resulting in deterioration of their health.
Syed Ali Gilani said that recently Hurriyat leader, Peer Saifullah, a brain tumor patient, fell unconscious due to lack of timely medical attention. He said that senior Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Aasiya Andrabi were also ill for quite some time and criminal negligence by the authorities had taken a heavy toll on their health.
He said Altaf Ahmed Shah is a patient of diabetes and improper diet and medical negligence has badly affected him. Likewise, Merajuddin Kalwal and Zahoor Ahmed Watali are also suffering from multiple ailments, but authorities hardly care about their well-being, the octogenarian leader said.
He said that wives of Hurriyat leaders, Ayaz Akbar and Shahid-UL-Islam, were suffering from life threatening health problems and their life partners should have been around them in this hour of need. "But our oppressor is so harsh that it enjoys the painful and agonizing condition of the families of these prisoners," he deplored. He further said that Syed Shakeel Ahmed and Syed Shahid Yousuf were also targeted for being sons of prominent freedom leader, Syed Salahuddin.
Syed Ali Gilani said that other Hurriyat leaders and activists lodged in Tihar Jail including Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Fehmeeda Sofi, Nahida Nasreen, Muhammad Aslam Wani, Mushtaq Ahmed, Dr Muhammad Shafi and Dr Ghulam Muhammad Butt were facing very hard times and Kashmiris in general and their families in particular were worried about their safety.
The APHC Chairman said that Indian brutalities would not be able to suppress the resolve of Kashmiri people and they would continue their struggle till they achieved freedom from the Indian bondage.
