802 Cases Registered Against Candidates Over Polls Code Of Conduct

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2018 ) :The Punjab police registered 802 cases against candidates of different political parties and independents resulting arrest of 779 workers and supporters over violation of code of conduct of the Election Commission from June 24 to July 21.
As per details,182 cases were registered against PTI, 198 against PML-N, 285 against MMA, 22 against the PPP and other parties while 115 cases were registered against independent candidates.
Consequently, 143 supporters and workers of the PTI, 242 supporters of the PML-N, 275 of MMA and other political parties, 16 supporters of PPP, while 103 supporters and workers of independent candidates have been arrested.
Likewise, 187 cases have been registered against candidates of political parties and independents for displaying weapons, 66 cases were registered against fire works, 58 cases without approval of corner meetings, 50 cases against illegal rallies, 54 cases against violation of section 144, 119 cases against misuse of loud speaker, seven cases against attempt to murder, five cases against persons of fourth schedule and 144 cases against violation of installation of illegal sized boards and other violations have been registered.
Directing to all RPOs and DPOs, IG Punjab Dr Syed Kaleem Imam said that all officers should ensure law and order and environment of peace during elections with honesty and also register cases against violators without any discrimination.
He emphasized upon that cases should be registered against those persons who exhibit weapons and carry out aerial firing.
