Close Contest Expected Among PPP, PML-N, PTI In NA-58

A three way breathtaking contest is likely to take place on July 25 in NA-58 Gujarkhan between Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek Insaf PTI.
RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jul, 2018 ) :A three way breathtaking contest is likely to take place on July 25 in NA-58 Gujarkhan between Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek Insaf PTI.
The PML-N is confident to retain this seat on basis of his government's performance in which a number of development schemes were done, while PPP in no doubt that he will win with a large margin as a mega projects were completed during PPP tenure.
In addition PTI candidate, Chaudhry Mohammad Azeem who was a town Nazim during the Musharraf era can also give a tough time to both candidates.
The constituency spread over the areas included Gujjar Khan Tehsil, Choha Khalsa Qanungo Halqa of Kallar Syedan Tehsil of Rawalpindi District.
In this constituency total 10 candidates have been contesting including four Independents.
The constituency has 629,386 registered voters including 327,734 male and 301,652 female voters, while 489 polling stations including 96 male and 94 female and 299 combined have been established in the constituency while 514 presiding officers, 2772 assistant presiding officers and 1386 polling officers would perform the election duty.
In 1988, Raja Muhammad Zahir Khan IJI had won the election by securing 61,188 votes and defeated Raja Abdul Aziz Independent who got 39294 while Brigadier (R) Muhammad Akram Khan PPP had bagged 38,046 votes.
In 1990 Raja Muhammad Zaheer Khan IJI had got 75,784 votes and Raja Abdul Aziz Bhatti PDA got 54,753 votes.
In 1993 election Ch Muhammad Riaz bagged 72,124 votes and PPP candidate Raja Aziz Bhatti got 59261 votes.
In 1997 Ch Khurshid Zaman got 75576 votes and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf PPP bagged 44,511 votes.
In 2002, Raja Pervez Ashraf of PPP had won the National Assembly Election with 81,700 votes while Raja Shaukat Aziz (PMLQ) lost by 35400 votes.
In 2008, Raja Pervez Ashraf again secured the seat with 80,200 votes and Raja Qasim Javeed Ikhlas PML-Q lost by 10,500 votes.
In 2013, Raja Muhammad Javed Ikhlaz on PML-N ticket won the seat with 121,300 votes and Raja Pervez Ashraf lost by 54100.
In 2018, main contesters in the constituency are former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf of PPP, Raja Javed Ikhlas form PML-N and Ch Muhammad Azeem, PTI. While Mutahida Majlis e Aml (MMA), TLP and Tehreek Labaik islam (TLI) have also issued tickets to their respective candidates.
It is a constituency dominated by Rajgan bradari but people from other bradaries including Malik,chaudary ,Rajpoot,Syed"s and Bhatti also live here. Additionally, thereligious parties also have a considerable presence in the constituency.
