He witnessed the condition of the hospital, the pharmacy, the kitchen, and the washrooms and issued necessary directives for improvements.

The caretaker was received by Medical Superintendent, Prof Dr Altaf Awan and they both visited the Emergency.

The MS Dr Awan told the CM that on average 100 patients visit the emergency every day.

The Caretaker CM went from bed to bed in the Emergency, interacted with the patients and most of them showed non-satisfaction over the provision of medicines, lab tests, and timely care.

However, some of the patients complained about the shortage of nurses for which the MS Dr Awan admitted and requested the CM to permit him to appoint nurses and paramedical staff.

The CM visited the washrooms of the emergency where he expressed his displeasure.

He directed them to improve janitorial services. “The washrooms must be kept neat and clean”, he said.

The CM also visited different surgical wards and interacted with the patients.

The Executive Director told the CM that there were 600 patients in the surgical wards. The chief minister on his last leg visit went to see the condition of the kitchen. He inspected the stoves, cooking pots, and storage system and felt angry about the poor condition of the kitchen.

Taking notice of the complaints, the chief minister ordered the suspension of Medical Superintendent (MS) Prof Dr Altaf Awan from service for poor administration.

The Chief Minister was told by most of the patients and their attendants that they were compelled to purchase medicines from the market, besides getting the diagnostic tests conducted from private laboratories and misusing funds from meals or food.
