Governor For Protecting Youth From Falling Victim To Drug Addiction

LAHORE, Nov 10(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Nov, 2016 ) : Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana on Thursday underscored the need for protecting the youth from falling victim to drug addiction by providing them facilities and encouraging them to take up healthy activities to change their lifestyle.
He expressed these remarks while addressing a ceremony held to detonate the pile of narcotics here. The ceremony was organised by Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) Punjab. The Punjab Governor urged the media and civil society to play their active role in creating awareness about impact of drugs on young lives.
He said that severe punishments would be imposed on elements found guilty of using drugs or being involved in drug trafficking networks. "It is our responsibility to save our generation from drug abuse and build a progressive, prosperous and drug free Pakistan," he said.
Rajwana said that it was important for all members of society to realise their responsibilities towards the youth and try their best to protect them from drugs. He said that the issue needed immediate attention of print and electronic media and civil society, adding that they should play a positive role in creating awareness among the masses against use of drugs.
He highlighted the role of the government in prevention of drug abuse. Rajwana called for elimination of poverty and ignorance which sowed seeds of pessimism in youths and led them to drug addiction.
