LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th August, 2016) : Chairman, Pakistan cricket board, Shaharyar Muhammad Khan, Chairman Executive Committee Najam Sethi and COO Subhan Ahmad have offered their heartfelt condolences to Hanif Muhammad's family, through his son Shoaib Muhammad, on the sad demise of the legendary Little Master after protracted illness caused by cancer. "The entire cricketing fraternity, in the country and all over the cricketing world, is mourning over the sad demise of Hanif Muhammad.
His legend shall live forever", said the PCB Chairman here on Thursday. "I join the Muhammad Family in mourning over the loss of one of the greatest cricketing heroes that this country has produced.
His sublime technical skill, his unflappable temperament and his resolve and staying power in all conditions were most remarkable and won plaudits for him and for Pakistan. "May the Almighty bless his soul", said Shaharyar Khan.
Hanif was a veteran of 55 Tests and played the longest innings in Test history - his 970-minute 337 against West Indies in Bridgetown in 1957-58 still remaining unsurpassed. Najam Sethi, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board, said: "Pakistan has lost a cricketing hero today.
Hanif was a true great of the game, one of the greatest batsmen in test history and a wonderful person. He will be sadly missed." "May the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
The prayers and wishes of everyone at the PCB are with Shoaib Mohammad and the entire Mohammad family. May Allah give them all the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss", said PCB COO Subhan Ahmad.
