Japan Important Development Partner Of Pakistan: Tarar

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th May, 2024) Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Friday that Japan was an important development partner of Pakistan and Tokyo's support in difficult times has always been valuable for the people of Pakistan.
During a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Wada Mitsuhiro here, he said Pakistan and Japan enjoyed a long-standing relationship of friendship and cooperation. In the meeting, bilateral diplomatic relations, cooperation in media sectors, fake news, economic initiatives of the government, and other important issues of mutual interest were discussed.
The two countries agreed to further expand the scope of cooperation in various sectors. The minister appreciated Japan International Cooperation Agency for its support for the development of Pakistan.
Apprising the ambassador of Japan about the government's economic initiatives, the minister said the present regime was determined to bring the country's economy back on track under the vision of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
"The government has taken several steps to improve the business environment and promote investment, including reforms in the FBR to increase the tax net," he added.
Steps were also being taken to provide business facilities to the private sector, the minister remarked. Attaullah Tarar said after the current government assumed power, the economic development of Pakistan accelerated and international financial journals were also predicting further improvement in the economic progress of the country.
In the meeting, issues regarding the prevention of fake news and the promotion of relations between the two countries in the fields of media were also discussed.
"The whole world is facing a big challenge of fake news and there is a need to work together to overcome these challenges". The ambassador said Japan was seeking stronger ties with Pakistan. He opined that the government's measures to facilitate the business community will make Pakistan a more attractive destination for Japanese investors.
