JIT Holds CTD Officials Responsible For Sahiwal Killings: Raja Basharat

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jan, 2019 ) :Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat Tuesday said the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in its initial report had held the officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) responsible for the killing of three members of a family in the Sahiwal shooting incident.
The Punjab government had decided to remove several officers of the CTD on the JIT's recommendations, he said while talking to media persons after a meeting held here to review the JIT's report.
He said Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police (Operations) Punjab Azhar Hameed Khokhar, CTD AIG Rai Tahir and CTD Deputy Inspector General Sarfraz Alpa had been removed from their poss while CTD Senior Superintendent of Police Jawad Qamar and CTD Deputy Superintendent of Police Sahiwal had been suspended.
The CTD personnel involved in the Sahiwal shooting incident would be prosecuted in the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC), he added.
Raja Basharat said the JIT head Ejaz Shah had requested for more time to probe alleged connections of Zeehsan Javed with terror outfits.
"It is a test case for the Punjab government. We will get justice for the bereaved family at any cost," he said and added that the government would take action in accordance with law.
