K-Electric has reiterated its continued commitment to eradicate power theft against all odds and strongly condemns the attack against its teams in Nazimabad block 1 during a hook (kunda) removal exercise
KARACHI, Sept 16 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2017 ) : K-Electric has reiterated its continued commitment to eradicate power theft against all odds and strongly condemns the attack against its teams in Nazimabad block 1 during a hook (kunda) removal exercise, a spokesman of the power utility said in a statement on Saturday.
It maintained that during removal, KE teams faced resistance from `Kunda Mafia who assaulted the team'. The employees were safely extracted with the support of law enforcement agencies. According to KE Spokesperson, `It is despicable and unfortunate that members of our hardworking team were assaulted.
Physical violence in all form and manner must be condemned. Our teams are dedicated to serve the people of Karachi.
Incidents like these strengthen our resolve and determination to crackdown harder on power thieves'.
K-Electric also urged the people of Karachi to take a stand against acts of violence and condemn such incidents. `Usage of hook connections a criminal offence as it is a safety hazard as well as a major cause of frequent PMT trippings.
The power utility will continue its campaign against power theft and defaulters and is grateful to the public at large for their support', the statement added. Reports of power theft may be made via KEs customer care platforms or emailing [email protected] (anonymity maintained upon request), it was further pointed out.
