KP Opposition Demands Payment Of Expenses By Imran For Using KP's Helicopters

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Nov, 2016 ) : The leaders of Awami National Party and Pakistan Muslim League-N here Friday demanded of PTI Chief Imran Khan to pay all charges including repair and fuel expenses to the government's exchequer on account of using the helicopter of Khyber Pakthunkhwa government for official and political purposes during last three years.
Pakistan Muslim League-N Parliamentary Leader in KP Assembly, Sardar Aurangzaib Khan Nalota while commenting on a news report published in a national urdu daily here told APP that he was shocked to learn that PTI Chief Imran Khan has used the official helicopter of KP Government 43 times for official and political purposes during last three years and huge amount was spent from the government kitty.
He said KP was a poor province and can't afford lavish expenses on account of misuse of official helicopters by unauthorized personalities for political purposes. Sardar Aurangzaib Nalota said that PTI Chief Imran Khan had claimed to maintain strict financial discipline and good governance in the province but the news report about misuse of official helicopter by him has proved all these claims wrong.
"Only Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Governor could use the official helicopter for official works and not Imran Khan," he said, adding that the good governance claims of PTI Chief and Chief Minister KP stand exposed before the masses.
"I demand from PTI Chief to submit all the repair and fuel expenses to the provincial government's kitty on account of using the official helicopters of KP Government for political and other activities," Nalota maintained.
He said taxpayers' money should not be used for personal gains but for development and provision of relief to people. Senior ANP leader and former Provincial Minister Wajid Ali Khan said use of official helicopter cannot be allowed to any politician including Imran Khan for political reasons, saying if the news report was based on facts then Imran should immediately tender apology to the nation and pay all the expenses incurred to the govt kitty.
He said KP was a poor province and our tax base was comparatively small then Sindh and Punjab governments, adding if the use of official helicopters continued for political gains then not only development works would be affected but service delivery system in the province would also suffer.
It may be mentioned here that a news reports revealed that important personalities in KP government and PTI Chief Imran Khan had spent an amount of over Rs170 million by allegedly using the two official helicopters of the province for official and political purposes 470 times during last three years.
Imran was the most beneficiary of the official helicopters as according to the news report he used the KP helicopters for 43 times followed by Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak for 37 time s and by IGP KP Nasir Khan Durrani for 13 times respectively.
The two KP helicopters during last three years were flown for 470 times, causing Rs179.5 million to the govt kitty. Under the head of fuel charges, Rs49.974million were spent and Rs132.5277million under repair head etc.
The KP owned MI 171 helicopter made 220 flights from 2013 till date besides 250 flights by the Recorteral helicopter. In addition to other important personalities, PTI Chief Imran Khan has used MI 171 helicopter 17 times, CM KP Pervez Khattak for 15 times and IGP KP 13 times respectively.
Whereas the Recorteral helicopter was used by the PTI Chief Imran Khan for 26 time, CM KP 22 times, Jumaat e Islami Central Ameer Sirajul Haq one time and Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaiser for eight times respectively. APP/fam/vak/rn
