River Indus Still In Low Flood

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Augst,2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said that all main rivers including Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal, except for River Indus, which is in low flood at Sukkur Barrage.
The FFC daily report said the river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Mangla Dam has attained its Maximum Conservation Level of 1242.00 feet since 16th August 2016, whereas Tarbela Dam is at elevation of 1541.16 feet, i.e.
8.84 feet below its Maximum Conservation Level of 1550.00 feet. The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 13.480 MAF as compared to last year's 13.937 MAF.
According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday's Deep Depression over Jharkand (India) has moved West-Northwestwards and lies over Southern Uttar Pradesh (India).
Yesterday's Shallow trough of Westerly Wave still persists over Northern parts of the country.
Seasonal Low continues to prevail over Northern Balochistan. As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
However, isolated thunderstorm/ rain may occur over the upper catchments of all major rivers including North and Northeastern Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions), besides, Northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the same period.
Scattered thunderstorm/rain of moderate intensity with isolated heavy falls is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej from Monday. No significant rainfall event has been reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours.
