Dreams Do Come True: Mehwish Hayat On Being Nominated For Tamgha-i-Imtiaz

She will be conferred with Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in the Pakistan Day ceremony.
Karachi (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th March, 2019) The government on Sunday issued the list of people who will be conferred with civil awards on March 23.
Acclaimed actress Mehwish Hayat was also among the list as she will be conferred with Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in the Pakistan Day ceremony.
Reacting to the nomination, the actress expressed her gratitude saying, “She has been humbled by the news.”
Taking to Instagram while sharing a picture of herself wearing green and white, the actress wrote, “So the cat is out of the bag. I have been humbled by the news that the President of Pakistan will bestow me with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. (Medal of Excellence) on Pakistan day.”
She said that she had never expected this recognition but she was glad to be honoured with the civil award.
“One never expects this sort of recognition but I am most flattered that the powers that be decided my contribution to Pakistani Cinema worthy of such a prestigious civil honour. I made a conscious decision early on in my career to remain in Pakistan and to build up our own cinema and I have MashaAllah been blessed with 6 of the biggest hits in the recent years.
From Billi to Meeru in loadwedding, my God it has been one hell of a journey!” the actress wrote.
She went on to tell how proud she is of her ‘Pakistani’ identity.
“When I travel globally my heart swells with pride when I am referred to as “Pakistani Actress, Mehwish Hayat”. My country is my identity and I will do whatever I can to not let it down,” she said.
Mehwish Hayat also paid a tribute to earlier recipients of the award and said she is honoured to be following in their footsteps.
“This is a major milestone in my life and I am blessed to have achieved it at such a young age. Hard work always pays off and it just goes to show that dreams do come true,” the Load Wedding star added.
She also thanked all her colleagues, fans and family members for their support.
President Dr Arif Alvi will confer civil awards on Pakistan Day ceremony to be held on March 23.
At least 127 foreign and Pakistani nationals will be awarded for services in their respective fields.
