ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2018 ) :A play 'Zard Paton Ka Ban' an original by Theatre Wallay closed to three house-full shows here at cultural venue, the Farm in Islamabad.

The play, in short episodes, explored how Pakistanis celebrated and reclaimed public spaces intended for learning, leisure and worship. It focused on how ordinary lives had been altered due to constant fear of terrorist attacks, rapid development and new lifestyles which had changed the people's relationship with their public spaces.

The script was written by more than a dozen people, and presents multiple points of view and reflections on life in Pakistan for ordinary citizens from various walks of life. The performance skillfully integrated projections of images, live music, and effective lighting to enhance the storytelling. "The play is nothing short of an enigma; a pendulum of emotions; from street smart wise cracks to bitingly relevant social and political commentary to a collective lump forming up in the audience throats.

The play shoves the knife deep and hard when it demonstrates that not all who die are buried.

Some die inside but are still condemned to live with their memories." said Shaukat Niazi, an Islamabad based writer and literary translator. The work on Zard Paton Ka Ban (from the initial writing to the staging) gave the team a chance to explore the changing relationships with public spaces in Pakistan, to recognize people's resilience and strength in combating the forces that would shut them down, and to discover that, even across borders, people's human need for shared space and collective expression tends to be the same.

Theatre Wallay members will now lead workshops, for college and university student groups teaching them scriptwriting and acting, encouraging them to prepare their own performances. Combining the constructed performances with their educational workshops, the workshops will culminate in a festival organized by TheatreWallay.

This exercise aims to nurture an interest in theatre as an art form, and encourage new performers to take the stage with meaningful creative expression.Theater Wallay all set to also perform in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.
