Azhar Ali Shah Elected As New Chairman Of KPCA

Former International Cyclist Azhar Ali Shah and Nisar Ahmad have elected as Chairman and President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association (KPCA) respectively in an election meeting held here at a local hotel on Tuesday

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2019 ) :Former International Cyclist Azhar Ali Shah and Nisar Ahmad have elected as Chairman and President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association (KPCA) respectively in an election meeting held here at a local hotel on Tuesday.

The election meeting was chaired by Secretary General of Pakistan Cycling Federation Azhar Ali Shah with representatives from all affiliated Division including Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Hazara, Malakand and Peshawar along with three female members Miss Raham Bibi, Miss Hajra Sarwar and Miss Khanza Ghayoor.

Deputy Director sports Aziz Ullah, Director Finance Tariq Khan, Manager Account Amjad Iqbal represented Directorate of Sports KP as observers in the election meeting. Nisar Ahmad also confirmed that they have sent invitation to KP Olympic Association to participate as observer in the election but there was no representation of the Olympic.

However, Muhammad Ibrar Shah, President Hazara Cycling Association, presented a penal of Names for various portfolios of the KPCA with the house unanimously given approval by raising their hands.

Azhar Ali Shah was elected as Chairman, Nisar Ahmad President and Muhammad Ali as Secretary General of the association. The other office-bearers elected comprising Sohail Rauf (Senior Vice President), President Hazara CA Muhammad Ibrar Shah, Miss Raham Bibi, Sher Afzal of Malakand Division, Adil Farhan of Kohat, Muhammad Hamayun of Mardan, Akbar Niaz of Bannu, Muhammad Ismail Khan of Dera Ismail Khan elected as Vice President respectively.

Aysha Zaman (Haripur), Hajra Sarwar (Peshawar), and Nasir Mehmood (Hazara) elected as Associate Secretaries while Ahad Murtaza and Asif Sheraz (Media Secretary) were elected as Finance Secretary and Information Secretary.

The executive committee comprising Yasir Shah (Kohat), Ahmad Iqbal (Mardan), Shayan Ali (Peshawar),, Shahid Imran (Malakand), Muhammad Zeeshan (Bannu).

The election meeting was also attended by President Sports Writers Association KP Ijaz Ahmad Khan, President Pakistan Archery Federation Muhmmad Wisal, Secretary SWA, KP Imran Yousafzai, Secretary KP Kabaddi Association Arbab Asghar, AD Development KP Munir Abbas, Vice President Pakistan Cycling Federation Haroon Khan General, Soon after election, Nisar Ahmad who elected as President for the second time, presented a full financial report which was unanimously approved after a brief debate. He said the association in its merger resources organized scores of cycling events with the aim to provide ample opportunities to the cyclists to play their game with full commitment. He association have the honor of organizing Tour de Galyat in 2015, in 2016, Tour of Mohmand in 2017, Inter-Departmental Cycling Championship including sending teams to the National Junior and National Senior Championships and in 2018 organizing National Road Cycling Championship in Peshawar.

About the players' performances, he said, they have sent Haleema Ghafoor, the national gold medalist to attain foreign training in cycling from Korean Cycling Coaching and Training Center. He said in Khaleema Ghayoor, Farhan Muhammad, Abdul Basit, Tanzeel Ahmad, Faryal Khan, Aftgab Khan, Owais Khan, Mohsin and Idrees Khan won gold medals at national level. Owais Khan and Idrees Khan and Mohsin Khan represented Pakistan in the South Asian Games, Asian Games and World International Cycling Championship.

The Association, he said has chalked out a plan to hold maximum number of cycling events so to keep the cyclists in form for the national and international events. He said Tour de Galyat will be organized in three different phases with the support and cooperation of Directorate of Sports KP, Inter-Department National and Galyat Tour de Khunjarab will be organized from June 26-28, 2019.
