Winter's Early Arrival Deems Woollies Must; Health Precautions Advised

Early arrival of winter season has compelled the citizens of the provincial capital to wear warm clothes to avoid seasonal affects on health.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Nov, 2018 ) :Early arrival of winter season has compelled the citizens of the provincial capital to wear warm clothes to avoid seasonal affects on health.
Normally, proper winter comes in December as in previous years, but this year it has started earlier which could affect the health of citizens especially young children and old people.
Heavy crowds of citizens is being observed in garment shops as well as used clothes markets (Landa Bazaars) located at different places of the city like Railway station, Mayo Hospital, Shahdara and General Hospital markets.
"We were not expecting winter yet so we have not opened and purchased warm clothes, but customers are now demanding warm clothes," Tahir Ali, a shopkeeper of Railway station Landa Bazaar told APP.
Zidna Ali,a female customer, said that several shopkeepers did not have variety of choice in clothes and she added that they were selling clothes of old designs.
She said that she would purchase whatever was available for her children due to early advent of winter and unavailability of new stocks in the market.
On the other hand, the health experts have warned the people to protect themselves in current dry and cold weather as it could cause Influenza and skin allergies.
Dr Rasheed Khawar,a child specialist said that children should wear warm clothes and use masks to avoid onslaught of viral infections and dust allergens.
"Small kids, usually pick viruses sooner than adults so they need more attention," he said.
"Sinus and nasal allergy are common in this season so kids deserve extra care as these allergies usually advance into in asthma," he added.
Professor Kamran Khalid Cheema, head of the Pulmonology department of the Services Hospital stressed upon wearing warm clothes and getting Flu vaccines to avoid serious disease.
"Humidifiers or steammakers should be used in the rooms as dry weather is harmful for infants,kids and old persons especially those who are asthmatic," he added.
