Slow decline in water reservoirs persists, normal flow in rivers: FFC

Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has reported water situation at reservoirs is persisting to slightly decline where all main Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal.

According to the daily FFC report on Wednesday, the actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela Dam is at 1527.37 feet, 22.63 feet below its maximum conservation level (MAL) and Mangla reservoir at 66.50 feet below its MAL of 1242 feet which is 1175.50 feet. The present combined live storage of three reservoirs is 7.860 million acre feet (MAF) (57.

45 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, Monsoon Low has developed over Central Bay of Bengal with a fresh trough of Westerly Wave presently over Northern parts of Iran. Weak Seasonal Low continues to prevail over Northern Balochistan.

For the next 24 hours, the FFD has mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of Pakistan during the next 24 hours. No significant rainfall event has been reported during the past 24 hours. A fresh wet spell is likely to start from 23 September in the country.
