FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Dec, 2018 ) :Pakistan should evolve a comprehensive strategy to enhance its share in three trillion Dollar international Halal market, said Robina Amjad,President Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI).

Addressing a 'Road Show' organized by the Halal Research Council (HRC) here on Tuesday, she said that Pakistan was an Islamic country and no one could even think of 'Haram' items but various eatables and other imported items may contain Haram ingredients as on its labels they only print its ingredients without mentioning the quality of Halal or Haram.

She said that a large number of women used imported cosmetics but they could not confirm that these were Halal or Haram. She urged the government to impose a complete ban on the import of all products without proper certification of Halal.

Continuing, she termed the SME (Small & Medium Enterprises) sector as the growth engine of economy, adding that women, particularly the FWCCI members were linked with the SME sector. Many of these have inherent expertise in preparing Halal food but they could not export the same to Europe and other developed countries as their hygienic conditions were very complicated and costly.

She hoped that the government would look into their issues and provide these facilities to the exporters in general and women in particular to enhance export of Halal items to the international markets.

He clarified that in non-Muslim countries they have different products and their government had declared mandatory to mention its ingredients only without mentioning their acceptability as Halal or Haram. Hence, it is duty of Muslim consumers to confirm that these items have no traces of any Haram ingredient.

He said that Halal certification could enhance the marketability of Pak products to over 1.6 billion Halal consumers across the world.

Responding to a question raised by Rana Inam Afzal former, Vice President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), Mufti Raees Ahmad Sharia advisor to Halal Research Council said that daily 100,000 bottles of cough syrup were produced in Pakistan.
