Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Monday called for setting up industrial estate in Chakwal, transforming Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate into Special Economic Zone
FPCCI Vice President and Regional Chairman Abdul Rauf Mukhtar expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Punjab Industrial Estates Development & Management Company (PIEDMC) led by its Chairman Shoaib Zahid Malik here at Federation's Regional Office.
Mukhtar added that PIEDMC should also establish a Cottage Industrial Estate, and smalls units should benefit from the SME Bank loans schemes on low mark-up.
On the occasion, Shoaib Zahid Malik said that Rahim Yar Khan, Bhalwal and Vehari Industrial Estates would be given the status of Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The PIEDMC Business Development Council had been made and trade bodies would also have representation in it.
He mentioned that Sialkot also required industrial estate and there was still a lot of capacity in Multan Industrial Estate.
The trade chambers would establish industrial estate on 50 acres of land and PIEDMC would give it the SEZ status. Apart from this, the company would also extend full support in establishing the industrial estate, he added.
Abdul Rauf Mukhtar said that he was well aware of the current issues of business community and efforts would be made in order to resolve all their issues relating to taxes, regulatory duty, customs, smuggling, refund and rebate, starting business and cost of doing business.
High utility expenses of electricity and gas had also disturbed the manufacturing sector, he said, asserting that a detailed report on the issues and concerns of each district of Punjab would be prepared. Monthly meeting with each chamber and association would also be priority of the new FPCCI body.
