Federal Flood Commission (FFC) Thursday reported that all the main rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normaly.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Sep, 2018 ) :Federal Flood Commission (FFC) Thursday reported that all the main rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normaly.

According to daily FFC report, actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicate that Tarbela Dam is at 1540 feet and Mangla reservoir at 61.80 feet below its maximum conservation level (MAL) of 1242 feet which is 1178.20.

Present combined live storage of three reservoirs which is 8.670 million acre feet (MAF) (63.37 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, marked Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan and bringing in weak moist currents from Arabian Sea into the upper parts of Pakistan upto 5000 feet.

"Yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave over Northeastern Afghanistan today lies over Northern parts of the country", the report added.

For the next 24 hours, FFD has predicted scattered wind thunderstorm or rain with isolated heavy falls over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej.

Isolated wind thunderstorm or rain may also occur over the upper catchment of River Indus alongwith Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha and Lahore Divisions of Punjab and Malakand and Hazara Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the same period.

According to FFD, Lahore, scattered wind thunderstorm or rain with isolated heavy falls and one or two very heavy falls may occur over the upper catchments of all major Rivers including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and D.G. Khan Divisions of Punjab and Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and D.I. Khan Divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tomorrow (14th September, 2018) to 16th September 2018. As a result, flows in Rivers Jhelum and Chenab and tributaries (Local Nullahs) of Rivers Ravi and Chenab alongwith Hill Torrents of D.G.Khan Divisions are likely to increase during that period.
