NAB (KP) Arrests Four Contractors Of WWB In Corruption Case

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th August, 2016) : National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested four contractors/suppliers of Workers Welfare board (WWB) for inflicting losses to the national exchequer. According to details, NAB has arrested Muhammad Ashraf, owner of M/s Educational Resources Point, Qari Muhammad Iftikhar, owner of M/s Haq Nawaz Traders, M/s Oxon Academics and M/s Qari Publishers, Muhammad Ahsan islam, owner of M/s Iqra Traders and M/s Mesh Trading Services and Niaz Muhammad, owner of M/s Books Point.
Taking cognizance of public complaints, NAB KP authorized inquiry against the accused persons which established allegations and finally led to the arrest of the above mentioned accused persons. As per details, all the accused persons are contractors/ supplier for Worker Welfare Board (WWB) allegedly involved in causing loss to public exchequer through substandard and short supply of equipments against supply order, said a press release.
The equipments includes Diaries, Registers, Exercise books, result cards, Text Books, Course Books crockery, sport equipment, stationery items, sport kits, PVC pipes, tube lights, welding equipment, micro meters, saws, fiber optics tool kits, various religious/historical books and library books etc at highly exorbitant rates.
Furthermore, the accused persons in connivance with officials of WWB got contracts frequently and fraudulently. The whole process of awarding contacts was conducted in sheer violations of PPRA Rules and caused huge loss of Millions of Rupees to the state exchequer. Tariq Awan, Secretary Worker Welfare Board (KP) who is the main culprit of this mega scam has already been arrested by NAB in another case regarding scholarship fraud in WWB.
NAB KP is actively pursuing the investigation; more facts are yet to be unearthed. The accused persons will be produced before the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining their physical remand into NAB Custody.
