Renowned Educationist 'Dadi Leela' Passes Away

Renowned scholar, writer, educationist, philanthropist and intellectual Leelawati Harchandani,

Hyderabad, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Sep, 2017 ) : Renowned scholar, writer, educationist, philanthropist and intellectual Leelawati Harchandani, popularly known as 'Dadi Leela' passed away on Thursday morning here.

She was 102. Dadi Leela passed away after prolong illness. Dadi Leela had received Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her services in education as well as other related fields. She had also served as Member Minority Affairs of the Federal Ministry of Religious and Minority Affairs, the Deputy Commissioner of Girls Guides Sindh and Chairperson of Ladies Club Hyderabad.

Dadi Leela also served as Inspector of Girls school Hyderabad Region, the Principal Mira Girls High School Hirabad and Member of the Rotary Club. She became a member of the Sindh Assembly in 1985, and worked for spreading of education with great zeal, visiting different neighborhoods and villages to encourage women to seek education.

Her last rituals were performed at Cremation Ground near Badin bus stop Hyderabad.
