Two Pakistanis Injured In New Zealand Mosque Attack Identified

Karachi’s Areeb and Hafizabad’s Muhammad Amin among Pakistanis injured in New Zealand mosque attack
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th March, 2019) At least 50 people were killed and dozens others were left wounded in mass shootings at two mosques in New Zealand's eastern city of Christchurch on Friday afternoon, marking one of the "darkest" days in the country's history.
At least five Pakistanis were said to be missing after the attacks on mosques in New Zealand, said Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner in Wellington.
Media reports said that one of the four Pakistanis who have been injured in the attack belongs to Karachi.
The victim, identified as 27-year-old Areeb Ahmed lives in Federal B Area of Karachi and works as a chartered accountant at a private firm.
Areeb had gone to New Zealand for some official work of his company. Areeb is the only son of the family.
Meanwhile, another Pakistani victim has been identified as Muhammad Amin, who belongs to Hafizabad.
Amin had gone to New Zealand to visit his son and grandsons.
At least two Pakistanis are already confirmed to have been killed in the New Zealand attack.
New Zealand authorities informed that Naeem Rashid, hailing from Abbottabad, Pakistan was killed along with his 18-year-old son Talha Naeem in the mosque attack.
Naeem’s family said that the New Zealand authorities have formally called his wife to inform about their death.
Naeem was killed while trying to stop the terrorist who opened fire at the mosque. His son Talha was also killed along with him.
Naeem’s brother Dr Khurshid also confirmed their killing.
Dr Khurshid said that his brother Naeem was working as a teacher in New Zealand while his nephew was a student.
Both had gone to the mosque to offer Friday prayers when they became a victim of the terrorist attack.
