Water inflow in major rivers jumps to 427,000 cusecs

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2018 ) :The current monsoon spell has significantly improved water inflow in all major rivers and on Sunday it increased to 427,000 cusecs against outflow of 264,600 cusecs.

According to the data released by the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) total water storage in the reservoirs has also reached at 3.143 million acre feet (MAF).

Water level in the the Tarbela Dam was 1461.88 feet, which was 74.88 feet higher than its dead level of 1,386 feet. Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 249,600 cusecs against outflow of 110,200 cusecs.

The water level in the Mangla Dam was recorded as 1132.50 feet, which was 92.50 feet higher than its dead level of 1,040 feet and water inflow and outflow was recorded as 33,400 cusecs and 10,000 cusecs respectively.

The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 162,500, 181,400 and 44,300 cusecs respectively.

Similarly from the Kabul River, 63,000 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 48,500 cusecs from the Chenab River at Marala. Total water storage was recorded as 2.807 million acre feet.
