Rivers Indus, Chenab, Kabul Run In Low Flood

ISLAMABAD. (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th july,2016) : The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has said River Indus at Kalabagh and River Chenab in "Marala-Khanki" & "Khanki-Qadirabad" Reaches are flowing in Low Flood while River Kabul was also running in Low llood in "Warsak-Nowshera" Reach.
According to daily FFC report here Thursday, all other main rivers inlcuding Rivers Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal. The river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1516.30 feet and 1231.55 feet respectively, which are 33.70 feet & 10.45 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.
The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 11.257 MAF as compared to last year’s 12.935 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, yesterday’s trough of Westerly Wave over Northern parts of Afghanistan today lies over Northeastern Afghanistan.
Seasonal Low lies over Northwestern Balochistan. Weak moist current from Arabian Sea is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 5000 feet. As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, scattered thunderstorm/rain with heavy falls at isolated places is expected over upper catchments of all major rivers including North & Northeastern Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala & Lahore Divisions), D.G Khan Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northeastern Balochistan during the next 24 hours.
Isolated thunderstorm/rain may occur over Bahawalpur Division during the same period.
Flood of moderate intensity is expected in D.G Khan hill Torrents during the next 24 hours. The tributaries of Rivers Chenab & Ravi (local nullahs) may also witness moderate flooding during the next 48 hours (29th to 30th July 2016).
All concerned authorities are advised to remain ALERT, watch the situation closely and take all necessary precautionary measures in order to avoid loss of human lives and damage to private and public property.
Significant rainfall events as reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours include; Gujranwala=103 mm, Zafarwal=86 mm, Lahore (Misri Shah=77 mm, Luckshami=63 mm, Shahi Qilla=62 mm, Mughal Pura=57 mm, Gulberg=37 mm, Upper Mall=31 mm, Taj Pura=27 mm, City & Airport=20 mm each, Johar Town & Township=18 mm each, Iqbal Town=16 mm and Samanabad=11 mm), Shorkot=57 mm, D.G Khan (Sanghar)=52 mm, Gujrat=39 mm, Sialkot (Airport=37 mm & Cantt=25 mm), Faisalabad=37 mm, Layyah=33 mm, Lower Dir=32 mm, Khuzdar=29 mm, Sargodha (City=28 mm & Airport=26 mm), Kot Addu & Jassar=26 mm each, Mandibahauddin=25 mm, Islamabad (Shamsabad & Golra=25 mm each, Bokra=24 mm, Airport=19 mm, Zeropoint=18 mm & Saidpur=10 mm), Kotli=20 mm, Rawalakot & Marala=17 mm each, Peshawar (Airport=17 mm & City=10 mm), Murree=15 mm, Multan & Besham=14 mm each, Saidu Sharif, Kallar & Sibbi=13 mm each, Alexandra Bridge=12 mm, Mangla=11 mm, Daggar and Malamjabba=10 mm each.
