Heavy Rain Causes Electricity Outage In City Lahore

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2019 ) :Hailstorm/rain coupled with strong winds on Tuesday disrupted power supply in some parts of the provincial capital.

The rainfall tripped at least 190 feeders in Lahore disrupting the electricity supply to parts of the city.

However, Lahore Electric Supply Company field staff was making efforts to restore the affected feeders gradually, and so far 50 feeders have been restored till the filing of this news report.

The rain inundated roads and rainwater entered houses in some low-lying localities.

Rain that started soon after dark clouds covered the city affected traffic on The Mall, Jail Road, at Laxmi Chowk,Gulberg, Shadman, Samanabad, Gulshan-i-Ravi and other areas in the city.

The weather experts predicted that current weather conditions would persist during next 24 hours.

Recent spell of rains and windstorm have caused damage to wheat crop which was ready to harvest in Punjab.

The farmers have been advised to harvest and store wheat crop on top priority basis to save each grain produced. Delayed harvesting results in high grain losses.

Rain and storm during wheat harvesting could result in losses of produce due to lodging and spoiling of maturegrains.

According to synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting the most upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts till Wednesday night.
