Sehri Ki Dua - What Is The Dua Of Suhur, Its Importance, And Benefits

Suhur plays an important role in fasting during Ramadan, and it is a kind of proof that Muslims are conducting their fasts with ease. Though it's not an obligatory act to commit to begin your fast, most religious scholars have pointed to it under a preferable view as a blessing from Allah. The Holy Prophet once said to Muslims that "there are blessings in the Suhur". The following statement is recorded in Al-Jami' as-Saghir;

"Indeed Allah placed blessing in the Suhur and the weighing of grain."

On occasion, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said;

"Take Suhur as there is a blessing in it."

A sahabi reported that once he was doing Suhur and the Holy Prophet entered to which he (PBUH) said;

"It is a blessing which Allah has given to you, so do not leave it."

From the above verses, we can figure out how important the Suhur is. Yet there's a specific prayer for Suhur which we should recite as it's the sunnah of our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W).

Benefits of Suhur Prayer

Suhur does not only include the activity of pre-dawn meals, but it also includes the activity of saying Suhur prayers or prayers after Suhur, saying prayer after Suhur is the Sunnah of our Holy Prophet (PBUH). It also refers to roze ki Dua that you intend to fast for the coming day.

Once you have recited the Sehri ki Dua, it means that you have now begun your fast, and therefore, you are not allowed to drink or eat anything unless it's time for iftar. Reciting such Duas is the exhibition of your intentions.

According to some religious scholars, it is not obligatory to recite the Suhur prayer if you intend to fast in your heart. However, some have shown a preferable reaction to this as reciting Sehri ki Dua encourages other people to do such religious deeds.

Benefits of Sheri Ki Dua

Given below are some of the benefits of observing Sehri ki Dua.

Fulfillment of Wishes

Dua is one of the most beneficial things Muslims have to fulfill their wishes from Allah. It is one of the most powerful opportunities for a believer. Allah has mentioned in the Quran that He will always listen and answer our prayers, so we shouldn't stop making Dua. And since Ramadan is the holy month, prayers are responded to the most.

Time of Acceptance

No doubt Muslims should make Dua regularly, but the month of Ramadan is the most blessed time, so Muslims know the importance of such time as this month has more value in all respects. So if one makes Dua in Ramadan or during Suhur, it will become more powerful.

Get Closer to Allah

Starting your fast with a Dua makes you closer to Allah. It will connect you with Allah in many effective ways. When a believer makes Dua to Allah, it shows that the person is weak and needs Allah to help him.

Gain Reward in Both Lives

Another benefit of making Sehri ki Dua is to gain reward in this life and hereafter. Duas can be accepted at any time, but the most blessed time is during Ramadan, which means Muslims should engage in making Duas during the time of Sehri.

Moment of Pride

Whenever a believer makes Dua, he becomes closer to Allah. It should be a moment of pride for Muslims that they are close to Allah. Therefore every Suhur should end with Sehri ki Dua to make sure that you are closer to Allah.

Surety of Acceptance

Most of all, the most significant benefit of making Dua at the time of Suhur is its fulfillment. As believers, we believe, and we have this strong hope in Allah that he will listen to our prayers. We make Dua with the surety that Allah will accept our prayers, and He will grant us with what we have been asking for.

Many religious scholars have highlighted that Dua can change the destiny of the believers. What if we make Dua at the time of Suhur in the blessed month of Ramadan? Of course, it will be more precious to Allah, and He will accept it at its right time.

Right Time to Ask Forgiveness

It is said that Dua is the most effective way to ask forgiveness and mercy from your sins to Allah. And doing such acts in the blessed month of Ramadan, especially at the time of fajr or Suhur, is more beneficial.

Get Rid of Arrogance

Arrogance is the most hated act which Allah dislikes. Whenever we make Dua, we feel that all our matters have been solved with the grace of almighty Allah. It gives the sense that human beings are so powerless, and they are nothing without Allah. Therefore by making Dua at the time of Sehri or regularly uproots the feeling of arrogance.

Make Your Iman Strong

Making Dua at the time of Suhur shows how strong your Iman is. If you have been blessed in your life and all your prayers are fulfilled, you keep making Dua. It indicates that your Iman is strong. Therefore, every believer should never stop making Dua.

Conclusion
