Faisal Sakhi Butt

Born and brought up in Islamabad, Faisal knows and understands what the constituency, city and the country needs on the economic, political and diplomatic front. Faisal comes from a family that has a history to serve the city and its people over forty year. A remarkable philanthropist, talent-promoter, encouraging supporter and above all, a dedicated, committed and patriotic citizen of Pakistan. Since March 2008, he has played an extremely important role, as a Member of the Prime Minister’s Steering Committee on Islamabad Capital Territory, in laying down the policy framework and guidelines for further growth and progress of Islamabad. He takes special interest in the issues of Health, Education, Environment and Responsible Urbanity. He has been systematically pushing, and raising his voice, in favor of an active civic participation of the citizens of Islamabad in affairs of the city as Islamabad is the only city in Pakistan where citizens do not have their right to elect local government officials. This issue still remains extremely close to his heart and he continues his campaign in this regard. A successful businessman, he plays a key-role in ICCI and particularly encourages the young entrepreneurs and businesswomen. Under his leadership and policy guidelines, the ICCI has worked proactively to enhance its role nationally and internationally with a number of business and nongovernmental organizations in long term partnerships to develop business opportunities for the Pakistani businessmen. Faisal’s family, particularly his father, played an extremely important role in the development of Islamabad. His father, Muhammad Sakhi Butt (late) founded the ICCI and spearheaded the process of its development into a truly modern civil society organization for the business community. His uncles played their role in city’s educational development and actively participated in a wide range of social welfare, sports and cultural activities. Faisal’s younger brother, Yasir Sakhi Butt was elected President of the ICCI in Oct. 2011. He received his early education in Islamabad and then earned his degree in Business Administration from Harper Adams College University, Newport, Shropshire, UK. He is among the leading businessmen of Pakistan and continues to grow. Faisal is married, has three children (two sons and a daughter) and lives in Islamabad. He was born in January 1968.
