Departmental head of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was fired on Tuesday for his unethical behavior with female employees.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Oct, 2016 ) : Head of the department of environmental sciences at IIUI, Dr Muhammad Irfan Khan was dismissed when six female staffers complained about workplace harassment. Dr Khan’s unprofessional behavior was observed in a meeting held recently in which senior staff members of various universities were also present.
Reportedly, he yelled and cursed at the female faculty members who at first tolerated, but eventually indicted the professor for his behavior. One of the staff members asserted that he created an uncomfortable environment for the female faculty.
She added that this is not the first time a complaint has been lodged against his immoral behavior. The complaint who wished to maintain her anonymity, has said that his gestures and approach was unethical and vulgar.
He allegedly threatened and harassed his female staff in front of faculty members from other varsities. However, Dr Khan has denied the allegations and said that these members are conspiring against him.
Dr Khan said that “they are trying to slander me so that I get excluded from the upcoming selection board for irregular appointments of grade-20 positions.” He added that he will take a legal action against these ‘allegations’. University is further investigating on the complaints lodged by all the faculty members and have refused to comment any further.
However, the dismissal of the professor has been confirmed by one of the committee members on workplace harassment.
