KP Inter-Club Throwball Boys Championship begins

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Feb, 2018 ) :Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boys Throwball Championship got under way here at Government College Peshawar with the collaboration of the Directorate of Sports KP on Sunday.

Director Finance Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Tariq Khan and Director Youth Aziz Ullah Khan graced the occasion as guests. Principal Govt Collage Peshawar Prof. Dr. Taj-ud-Din, Vice Principal Tahir Shah, Chief Procter Prof.

Badi-uz-Zaman, Professor Fayyaz Ahmad, Professor Sarfarz Khan. Director Sports Government College Hassan Khan, Director Sports GC Mathra Safder Khan and Director Sports GC Achini Payan also present on that occasion.

In his welcome speech, Secretary General KP Throwball Association Arshad Khan said that they have given chances to most of the colleges teams in order to introduce the game at college level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Arshad Khan, who recently toured Malaysia with the Pakistan Male and Female teams which took part in the Asian Throwball Championship, disclosed that the teams have given good performances in the international event and the Pakistan Throw Ball Federation wants to promote the Games in Pakistan including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said initially 10 top teams from all across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa part from Malakand Division are taking part from Charsadda, Mardan, Nowhsera and Peshawar. He said they have already organized the same the Male and Female Throw Ball Championships in Malakand Division wherein teams from Dir Upper, Dir Lower, Buner, Shangla, and Swat took part.

After Peshawar, the association has planned to organize similar Championship for female in Peshawar and Southern District comprising Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat.

The aim and objective of the Championships is to promote the game in school and college levels in all districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

�We are going the door step of the youth and want to involve them in healthy sports activities,� Arshad Khan, who also worked as Director Youth in Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said.

He also appreciated Director General Sports Junaid Khan for extending a very helping hand both financially and morally for holding the events in different districts across the province. He said, Throwball is a non-contact ball sport played across a net between two teams of seven players on a rectangular court.

He said a total of 10 short-listed teams are taking part in the Championship comprising Govt College Club, Govt College Matra, Chamakni Stars, Dolfen Club Peshawar, Sharjah Club Mardan, Tarnab Club Charsadda, Afridi Stars, Urmer Club Shabqar, District Charsadda, Achani Payan Club, Warsak, Taru Jabba stars Pabbi.

In the opening match Sharjah club beat Urmer Club by 15-10 and 15-8, Tarujabba Stars beat Chamkani by 15-7 and 15-9, GC Mathra beat Dolfen by 15-9 and 15-12, GCP beat Tarnab by 15-8 and 15-13, Afridi Stars beat GC Achani by 15-12 and 14-16 and 15-10, in the 6th and last match of the day Tarujabba Stars and Sharja club which won by Tarujabba by 15-12 and 15-13.
