Chapter 31 | The Book Of As-Saum (The Fasting) |
---|---|
Book | Sahih Bukhari |
Hadith No | 1897 |
Baab | Rozay Ke Masail Ka Bayan |
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, Whoever gives two kinds (of things or property) in charity for Allah's Cause, will be called from the gates of Paradise and will be addressed, 'O slaves of Allah! Here is prosperity.' So, whoever was amongst the people who used to offer their prayers, will be called from the gate of the prayer; and whoever was amongst the people who used to participate in Jihad, will be called from the gate of Jihad; and whoever was amongst those who used to observe fasts, will be called from the gate of Ar-Raiyan; whoever was amongst those who used to give in charity, will be called from the gate of charity. Abu Bakr said, Let my parents be sacrificed for you, O Allah's Apostle! No distress or need will befall him who will be called from those gates. Will there be any one who will be called from all these gates? The Prophet replied, Yes, and I hope you will be one of them.
More Hadees on Jihad
Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1834
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: On the day of the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet said, There is no more emigration (from Mecca) but Jihad and intentions, and whenever you are called for Jihad, you should go immediately. No doubt, Allah has made this place (Mecca) a sanctuary since the creation of the heavens and the earth and will remain a sanctuary till the Day of Resurrection as Allah has ordained its sanctity. Fighting was not permissible in it for anyone before me, and even for me it was allowed only for a portion of a day. So, it is a sanctuary with Allah's sanctity till the Day of Resurrection. Its thorns should not be uprooted and its game should not be chased; and its luqata (fallen things) should not be picked up except by one who would announce that publicly, and its vegetation (grass etc.) should not be cut. Al-`Abbas said, O Allah's Apostle! Except Al-Idhkhir, (for it is used by their blacksmiths and for their domestic purposes). So, the Prophet said, Except Al-Idhkhir.
Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1468
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) ordered (a person) to collect Zakat, and that person returned and told him that Ibn Jamil, Khalid bin Al-Walid, and `Abbas bin `Abdul Muttalib had refused to give Zakat. The Prophet said, What made Ibn Jamil refuse to give Zakat though he was a poor man, and was made wealthy by Allah and His Apostle ? But you are unfair in asking Zakat from Khalid as he is keeping his armor for Allah's Cause (for Jihad). As for `Abbas bin `Abdul Muttalib, he is the uncle of Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) and Zakat is compulsory on him and he should pay it double.
Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1520
Narrated `Aisha: (the mother of the faithful believers) I said, O Allah's Apostle! We consider Jihad as the best deed. The Prophet said, The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj Mabrur.

Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 527
Narrated `Abdullah: I asked the Prophet Which deed is the dearest to Allah? He replied, To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times. I asked, What is the next (in goodness)? He replied, To be good and dutiful to your parents I again asked, What is the next (in goodness)? He replied, 'To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah's cause. `Abdullah added, I asked only that much and if I had asked more, the Prophet would have told me more.
Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 969
Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet said, No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijja). Then some companions of the Prophet said, Not even Jihad? He replied, Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah's sake) and does not return with any of those things.
Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1861
Narrated Aisha (mother of the faithful believers): I said, O Allah's Apostle! Shouldn't we participate in Holy battles and Jihad along with you? He replied, The best and the most superior Jihad (for women) is Hajj which is accepted by Allah. `Aisha added: Ever since I heard that from Allah's Apostle I have determined not to miss Hajj.
Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1519
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet was asked, Which is the best deed? He said, To believe in Allah and His Apostle. He was then asked, Which is the next (in goodness)? He said, To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause. He was then asked, Which is the next? He said, To perform Hajj-Mabrur.
