The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in the Peninsula of Arabia. It has boundaries with Iraq and Jordan to the north, from northeast Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east.

Saudi Arab, due to its boundaries with different countries, has developed multiple traditions. It’s an Islamic principle-based country with a majority of its Muslim population. Apart from that, it is a country with holy places such as Makkah and Madina, where all the Muslims from the entire world gather for the purpose of worship.

Every year, many people from Pakistan travel to Saudi Arabia for religious purposes. Apart from that, a large number of the workforce in Saudi Arabia is from Pakistan. These people are working in almost every field. That all combines to make the exchange rate of SAR to PKR very important. If we compare both of the currencies, SAR is far stronger than PKR. Let's explore this relationship further in this article.

Saudi Arabian Riyal

Saudi Arabian Riyal is the official currency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It has a broad historical background. In the early days, Saudi Arabia used to have Hejazi silver coins as their official currency. With time, Hajj Pilgrimage receipts were considered as their currency. In 1961 the Riyal banknotes were made, and they became the official currency of Saudi Arabia. The notes of 1, 5, 10, 15 were made an also Halalas were introduced as coins.

Now, if we talk about the current currency of Saudi Arabia, today, they have coins of 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 Halala. 1 Riyal is equal to 100 Halalas. Also, Saudi Arabia has banknotes of 1, 5, 10, 15, 100, and 500 Riyals. If we compare the rate of SAR to USD, it is like 1 USD is equal to almost SAR. The SAR rate, however, varies with the Pakistani Rupee regularly.

Pakistani Rupee

The official currency of Pakistan since 1948 is ‘’Pakistani Rupee’’. In the early years of independence, the Pakistani government used to have silver as its official currency. They stopped using it as soon as it started losing its value. Then Pakistani Rupee was introduced as the official currency.

In 1948, the government introduced coins of pice, anna, and rupees. In the same year, on the 1st of April, the government also introduced banknotes of 1, 5, 10, and 100 rupees. Today Pakistan has banknotes of 10, 20, 50, 100, 1000, and 5000 and the coins of 1, 2, 5, and 10. All banknotes have their own color and size, and the State Bank of Pakistan regulates them.

Being one of the developing countries, the Pakistani currency has faced a lot of trouble since its birth. It is still facing them today. Pakistan is also facing substantial economic turmoil, which lead it into debt, thus affecting the currency badly.

SAR to PKR Trend and Variations

There has been a variation in the conversion rate of SAR to PKR in the past few months. It shows the highest conversion rate as PKR 46 and lowest as PKR 44.2 in value. However, the trends are relatively smooth, and the difference between the value of both currencies continues to increase from years. It is because the economy of Pakistan is weak, and the economy of Saudi Arabia is stable. It is also because Pakistan has to pay back the debts to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan share a very close friendly relation. Both countries have developed religious, commercial, political, and strategic relations since the independence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. They share very important religious terms since Saudi Arab is considered the Holy land for Muslims around the world. A considerable number of Pakistani visit Saudi Arabia regularly for the purpose of pilgrimage and also to visit, see, and pray at the Holy places.

SAR to PKR is also very important for Pakistani people as a number of Pakistani workers work in Saudi Arabia and send their earnings to their loved ones back home. Furthermore, Saudi Arab is blessed with a vast amount of oil, and they export the oil to Pakistan as well.
