Minister Directs Timely Completion Of Ongoing Schemes

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Oct, 2016 ) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary education Muhammad Atif Khan has directed the high-ups of his department not to depend only on correspondence but pursue each and every case to its full extent so that important schemes could be completed on time.
These directives were issued by Muhammad Atif Khan while presiding over a review meeting of Elementary and Secondary Education Department on Tuesday. Secretary E&SE Dr. Shehzad Bangash, Special Secretary Qaiser Alam, Additional Secretary Shahid Sohail and Director Schools Rafiq Khattak were also present in the meeting.
The meeting thread barely discussed the progress over furniture project, establishment of 500 IT Labs, provision of sports facilities under educational boards, conditional grants, play areas, Girls Cadet College, Smart Schools, Standardized Schools, Teachers Training Programs through British Council, provision of missing facilities in government schools, Private Schools Regulatory Authority and school based Recruitment Draft Bills and various decisions were taken in this regard.
The meeting was informed that till December 2016, the process of appointment of fifteen thousand teachers would be completed while ten thousands more teachers would be recruited next year.
It was also told that Mardan, Swat and Bannu educational boards had shown a great progress in regard provision of sports facilities while Kohat, Malakand and D.I Khan educational boards were asked to pinpoint government land for the purpose and in case of non-availability of government land, buy land for provision of sports facilities.
It was informed that Rs.17 billion had been spent this year over provision of missing facilities in government schools while Rs.6 billion have further been provided. Rs 95 million are to be spent over play areas in 10,000 schools in which 25 million rupees have been released.
Practical work over 36 schools under Standardized Schools Project has been initiated while work on five more such schools would be started soon. The meeting was further told that draft bill of Private Schools Regulatory Authority has been shared with all stakeholders and the Bill would also be publicized for knowing the public opinion.
Minister E&SE in his brief speech on the occasion said that instead of hollow slogans, he believed in practical steps. He directed to act upon the instructions issued by the government time to time in letter and spirit and strict action be taken against those not acting on these instructions.
