Rivers continue to run normal: FFC

All main rivers including Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal, daily FFC report Tuesday said.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jul, 2018 ) :All main rivers including Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal, daily FFC report Tuesday said.

The actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela & Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1386.00 feet and 1120.45 feet respectively, which are 164.00 feet & 121.55 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.

The combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma & Mangla reservoirs is 0.805 MAF (5.88 % as compared to the maximum combined live storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).

Present reservoirs position depicts a very grim position of water availability and until & unless good snow melt and adequate monsoon rains are received in the upper catchments of major rivers, the position is not going to improve.

Judicious water distribution in this situation would be much desirable to both augment flows in reservoirs besides meeting provincial needs.
