Narrated Abu Qatada Al-Aslami: Allah's Apostle said, If anyone of you enters a mosque, he should pray two rak`at before sitting.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ السَّلَمِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ .
ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں امام مالک نے عامر بن عبداللہ بن زبیر سے یہ خبر پہنچائی، انہوں نے عمرو بن سلیم زرقی کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے ابوقتادہ سلمی رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص مسجد میں داخل ہو تو بیٹھنے سے پہلے دو رکعت نماز پڑھ لے۔

Narrated Nafi`: Ibn `Umar said, While the Prophet was on the pulpit, a man asked him how to offer the night prayers. He replied, 'Pray two rak`at at a time and then two and then two and so on, and if you are afraid of the dawn (the approach of the time of the Fajr prayer) pray one rak`a and that will be the witr for all the rak`at which you have offered. Ibn `Umar said, The last rak`at of the night prayer should be odd, for the Prophet ordered it to be so.
