Punjab Police - Women Safety App - Complete Guide, How To Register And Use It

Punjab Government is working hard for the safety and security of women in the region. In this modern era, it is made easy with the availability of smartphones. Therefore, Punjab Police has launched a Women Safety App with the collaboration of the IT infrastructure of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA). It is easy to use, and women can get help with just a single touch with this app.

The idea to create this app was to send help to women whenever they face any fatal situation. With this app, the authorities ensure that women never feel unsafe as the help can reach them immediately. Here in this article, we will guide you through this app's installation, features, and usage.

How to Download and Install Women Safety App

Here we will discuss a step-by-step guide on downloading and installing the Women Safety App on your phone. First, we will discuss the features you should need in your phone to install this app.

App Requirements

You should have an Android phone with version 4.3 or above. Also, there should be 28MB of free space available for the installation.

Search App on Play Store

You can search for the App on Play Story by speaking or typing 'Women Safety App' in the search bar. The first search result that appears is the app you are looking for. Below is the screenshot of the search results you will get. Make sure you download the authentic app developed by Punjab Safe Cities Authority.

Go to the App Page

After you have found the app, click on it to see more details. You will get the 'Install' button and other related details on the App's download page, i.e., rating, download size, number of downloads, etc. You can read more about the app by clicking on the 'About this App' button given in the picture below.

Learn More About the App

While you tap on the 'About this app' button, you will go to the page where all the details about the app are written. Here you can read who made this app and what the purpose was. At the end of this page, there will be a tab of 'App permissions' here you can know what app permissions you need to enable to use this app. These include your identity, contacts, location, phone numbers, Wi-Fi information, full network access, anti-sleep prevention, and other network connections. You can also see the App permissions in the picture below.

Install the App

After you have checked all the details and requirements, you can install the App. Before that, you have to tap 'Accept' to give all app permissions we discussed above. After you 'Accept' all the App permissions, you can install the App.

App Tutorial

When you open the app, there will be a video of the app tutorial; you can play it or skip it as you want.

Enter Your Phone Number

After you open the installed app, you need to enter your Phone Number and click submit. It should be in the format +92----------.

Enter the Code

After you submit your phone number, a 5-digit verification code will be sent to your phone number from PSCA. You need to enter it to log in. You will receive it within the next 30 seconds.

If you don't receive any code, you can request it again by clicking on 'Click here if you Didn't receive code'.

App's Interface

After you enter the login code, you will see the page given in the picture below.

Setup Your Profile

Here we will guide you about the details you need to enter to set up your profile. On the home screen, this option is available on the right side of the footer menu.

Verify Your Phone Number

You need to verify your phone number if you haven't received the verification code while logging in to the app. Tap on the 'Verify' button on the right of your phone number.

You will receive the 5-digit verification code shortly, enter it here and tap 'Done'.

After entering the code, your phone number is now verified.

Enter Your Personal Information

Here you need to enter your name and CNIC number (optional). Now from the drop-down of Age and District, select yours. You can also enter your address which is optional.

Enter Emergency Contact Info

Now you need to enter the contact details of your family. Here you need to enter an emergency contact email and emergency contact phone number. These contacts will be notified when you are in an emergency directly from this app, and there will be no need to call your family separately.

Update Your Profile

After you enter all the mandatory details and optional ones, click on the 'Update' button. You can also edit your details later and click 'Update' again.

Now Women Safety App has all your details to reach you whenever you need it and will also inform your family about the situation.

Features of the Women Safety App

Here we will discuss all the useful features of this app that you can avail of in just one click. As the App has direct access to your location, the help can reach you directly in no time.

Alert 15

There is a big round red button on the App's homepage with the text 'Alert 15'. Whenever you feel any danger, you can tap on this button, and it will send an alert to the Police in your area.

Emergency Live Chat

There is also a Live Chat button on which you can tap to talk to the helpline and tell more about the emergency you are facing. This way, they will understand the situation better and send you the relevant help immediately.

Call Rescue

You can tap the Call Rescue button in case of any medical emergency. By doing it, the app will notify Rescue 1122, and the medical help will reach you immediately.

Call Punjab Highway Patrol

If you face any emergency while traveling on any highway in Punjab, this feature will benefit you. By tapping on 'Call 1124', the app will send an alert to the Punjab Highway Patrol, and the help will reach you immediately.

Call Motorway Police

If you face any emergency while traveling on any motorway in Punjab, this feature will benefit you. By tapping on 'Call 130', the app will send an alert to the Motorway Police, and the help will reach you immediately.

Call Punjab Commission on the Status of Women

It is a human rights institution that works for the rights of women of Punjab. The Punjab Government established it. If you ever feel your rights are violated or face any discrimination, you can tap on this button, and the 1043 helpline will send you immediate help.

Call Cyber Crime Helpline

If someone is harassing you over the internet, you can report it to the Cyber Crime Helpline 1991 by tapping on this button. While you will report it, they will guide you and help you out in no time.

More Features

On the footer of the homepage, there is a 'More' button on the left of the 'Home' Button. While you tap on it, the menu in the picture below pops up. These are help features that are not for emergencies.

See Tutorial

On the top, there is a video tutorial that was shown to you when you first opened the app. If you missed watching it or you want to watch it again, play it. It will tell you how many wonders this app can do to the life of women in Punjab.

Location Review

The second option here is the 'Location Review'. While you tap on it, you get to know how it is beneficial. You can know which location is secure to visit for women, which is partially secure, and which is not secure at all. As per the information, you can plan your journey or visit any place.

The ratings about the places are done by other women who use this app.

You can see the whole map here, select the place you want to visit, and see if it is secure or not.

You can also rate the security of locations you visit to help other women who plan to visit such locations. Tell other women how comfortable you feel at the location you visit. There are two dropdown menus here. One is to select the location status; secure, partially secure, not secure. The second dropdown is about the time of your visit, day or night. You can also add photos of your visit and write comments. After that, submit your review to help others.

My Current Location

It is the third option on the 'More' tab. Here the app will show you your exact location as per Google Maps if the Location setting of your device is enabled. If not, it will ask you to do it. On this page, there is a 'Share Location' button below. You can tap on this button to share your location among other Apps on your phone. You can also copy your coordinates if you don't want to share them directly to other apps or the app you want to share your location is not visible to you.

It is very helpful as you can share your location with your family by doing only a few taps on the app.

Other Help Corner

On the 'More' menu, this option is available to call those helplines that you might not need in an emergency but other situations.

IGP Complaint Centre

You can call 1787 directly through this app to contact the Inspectors General of Police office if you have any complaints regarding the Punjab Police Department.

PCSW Complaint Portal

'Call PSCW' option is also available on the 'Home' menu of this app. However, you can tap this option if you don't want to call the helpline as there is no emergency but want to register a complaint regarding women's rights or gender discrimination.

You can fill in the form in a few minutes and file the complaint. Ensure all the information is accurate so that the authorities can take better action according to your request.

Ombudsperson Complaint Portal

If you have any complaint about your workplace, as if anyone harassing you, you can file a complaint here.

You can fill in the information in three steps, and the complaint will be filed in no time. Ensure all the information is accurate so that the authorities can take better action according to your request.

Dar-ul-Aman

If you need shelter, as if you are the victim of any violence, you can contact the Punjab Dar-ul-Aman authorities so that they can reach you to help you out.

PTA Phone Blocking

When you go down the menu, there is one other option, PTA Phone Blocking. You can tap on it to ask PTA to block a handset if it is stolen or you lost it.

Sim Numbers

It is the third option next to the 'More' in the footer menu of the app. Here you can enter your other numbers if you are using multiple phone numbers. Tap on the 'Add' button to add it.

Now the enter number menu will pop up. Enter the 'Number 2' here and click on 'Save'.

Now the app will ask you to verify your second phone number. After you click 'Verify', a verification code will be sent to your second number.

Now enter the 5-digit verification code and click 'Done'.

After verification, your second phone number will also be added to the App's record.
