Shawwal Calendar
Shawwal is the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims fast the first six days of the Shawwal. They are not compulsory, but Muslims believe that the reward of these is very high. The Muslims emphasize fasting on the consecutive 1st six days of Shawwal along with Ramzan, after the day of Eid-ul-Fitar.
Events of the Shawwal
The events of the Shawwal are as follows:
- On 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, Shawwal Muslims celebrate Eid ul Fitr. This eid is celebrated on the successful completion of the Ramzan. Allah gifted this eid to Muslims as a result of Fasting.
- Muhammad ibn Ismail Al Bukhari was born on 13th of Shawwal. He is one of the famous Persian Islamic scholars and is commonly known as Imam Bukhari.
- The battle of Uhud occurred on the 17th of Shawwal. Abu Sufyan was the leader of 3000 Qureshi Makkah, and Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was the leader of the Muslims.
- The Urs of Amir Khusro is celebrated on the 18th of Shawwal. His full name is Abu al Hasan Yamin Ud Din Khusrau. He was a famous Indian poet, writer, and Muslim Sufi.
- The Naqshbandi Sufi master Haji Dost Muhammad Qandhari died on the 22nd of Shawwal. He belongs to Afghanistan.
- Jafar ibn Muhammad Al Sadiq died on the 25th of Shawwal. He was the 6th Muslim Imam. He was the founder of the Jafri school of jurisprudence.
