
Weather Update; Strong Winds, Thunderstorms Likely In Pakistan From August 23

Sindh and south-eastern Balochistan could experience heavy rains from August 27 to 29
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-August 22nd, 2025) Pakistan Meteorological Department on Friday predicted heavy and intermittent rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in northern and strong winds and thunderstorms in northern and central Pakistan from August 23 to 27.
Sindh and south-eastern Balochistan could experience heavy rains from August 27 to 29.
From August 23 to 27, areas including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhnoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur may witness heavy rains with thunderstorms.
Gilgit-Baltistan districts such as Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ganche, and Shigar may also experience intermittent heavy rain.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Sawabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan are expected to see scattered rain with thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain.
Punjab regions including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, and Sahiwal may also see scattered rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy downpours.
Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan may experience similar conditions on August 24 and 27.
In Sindh, from the evening of August 23 to August 26, Mithi, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Mirpur Khas may have rain with thunderstorms. Balochistan districts including Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Zhob, Kalat and Khuzdar may also experience rainfall with strong winds and thunderstorms during the same period.
Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of flash floods in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Nowshera, Sawabi, Mardan, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, north-eastern Punjab, Kashmir, Dera Ghazi Khan, and nearby streams and rivers due to heavy rainfall from August 23 to 26.
