شہر کی ہنگامہ آرائی سے بے پروا ہے وہ
دھوپ نکلی ہے تو چوراہے پہ آ بیٹھا ہے وہ
چھو لیا گر بھول سے بھی تو جھلس جائے گا ہاتھ
پھول جس کو آپ نے سمجھا ہے انگارہ ہے وہ
مجرموں کی طرح میں اپنے مکاں میں بند ہوں
سر اٹھائے بے گناہوں کی طرح پھرتا ہے وہ
آؤ اس کو کھینچ لائیں شہرتوں کے شہر میں
چھپ کے کیوں گمنامیوں کے غار میں بیٹھا ہے وہ
بد گماں ہے مجھ سے لیکن پھر بھی میرا دوست ہے
جب ملا ہے تو گلے مل کر بہت رویا ہے وہ
تشنگی اس کی بجھانے والا کوئی بھی نہیں
سامنے پنگھٹ کے بیٹھا ہے مگر پیاسا ہے وہ
دوستی اپنی جگہ ہے اختلاف اپنی جگہ
آؤ اس کی بات تو سن آئیں کیا کہتا ہے وہ
ایک مدت سے عزیزؔ آیا نہیں ہے اس طرف
کیا خبر کس حال میں ہے اور کیا کرتا ہے وہ

dhup nikli hai to chaurahe pe aa baiTha hai wo
chhu liya gar bhul se bhi to jhulas jaega hath
phul jis ko aap ne samjha hai angara hai wo
mujrmon ki tarah main apne makan mein band hun
sar uThae be-gunahon ki tarah phirta hai wo
aao us ko khinch laen shohraton ke shahr mein
chhup ke kyon gumnamiyon ke ghaar mein baiTha hai wo
bad-guman hai mujh se lekin phir bhi mera dost hai
jab mila hai to gale mil kar bahut roya hai wo
tishnagi us ki bujhane wala koi bhi nahin
samne panghaT ke baiTha hai magar pyasa hai wo
dosti apni jagah hai iKHtilaf apni jagah
aao us ki baat to sun aaen kya kahta hai wo
ek muddat se 'aziz' aaya nahin hai is taraf
kya KHabar kis haal mein hai aur kya karta hai wo
