شمع رو عاشق کو اپنے یوں جلانا چاہیئے
غمگین دہلوی
شمع رو عاشق کو اپنے یوں جلانا چاہیئے
کچھ ہنسانا چاہیئے اور کچھ رلانا چاہیئے
زندگی کیونکر کٹے بے شغل اس پیری میں آہ
تم کو اب اس نوجواں سے دل لگانا چاہیئے
اس میں سب راز نہاں ہو جائیں گے ہم پر عیاں
پھر اسے اک بار گھر اپنے بلانا چاہیئے
پھر یہ ممکن ہے کہ میرے پاس تو اک دم رہے
کچھ نہ کچھ اے یار بس تجھ کو بہانا چاہیئے
گو بہت ہوشیار عاشق اے پری رو ہیں ترے
لیکن ان میں ایک غمگیںؔ سا دوانہ چاہیئے

zindagi kyunkar kaTe be-shaghl is piri mein aah
tum ko ab us naujawan se dil lagana chahiye
is main sab raaz-e-nihan ho jaenge hum par ayan
phir use ek bar ghar apne bulana chahiye
phir ye mumkin hai ki mere pas tu ek dam rahe
kuchh na kuchh ai yar bas tujh ko bahana chahiye
go bahut hoshiyar aashiq ai pari-ru hain tere
lekin un mein ek 'ghamgin' sa diwana chahiye
