تسکین و رحم سے نہ تو لفظ دعا سے تھی
جو ہم گناہ گاروں کو کار سزا سے تھی
اس سے بچھڑ رہا ہوں تو کیوں رو رہا ہوں میں
اس بات کی خبر تو مجھے ابتدا سے تھی
اب کے بچا سکی نہ مری خامشی مجھے
اس بار میری جنگ کسی ہم نوا سے تھی
دشمن ہی ایک اہل وفا چاہتے تھے ہم
حالانکہ دوستی تو ہر اک بے وفا سے تھی
ہم نے بھی بار غم کو مقدر سمجھ لیا
کچھ روز تک ہمیں بھی شکایت خدا سے تھی
جس کے تغافلوں کے تھے چرچے تمام شہر
اپنی بھی تو مراد اسی بے وفا سے تھی
ہجر و وصال دونوں ہی شرطوں میں طے تھی موت
ہم تھے چراغ ہم کو محبت ہوا سے تھی

us se bichhaD raha hun to kyon ro raha hun main
is baat ki KHabar to mujhe ibtida se thi
ab ke bacha saki na meri KHamushi mujhe
is bar meri jang kisi ham-nawa se thi
dushman hi ek ahl-e-wafa chahte the hum
haalanki dosti to har ek bewafa se thi
hum ne bhi bar-e-gham ko muqaddar samajh liya
kuchh roz tak hamein bhi shikayat KHuda se thi
jis ke taghafulon ke the charche tamam shahr
apni bhi to murad usi bewafa se thi
hijr-o-visal donon hi sharton mein tai thi maut
hum the charagh hum ko mohabbat hawa se thi
