یعنی سر شام سو گئے ہم
کہتے تھے ہمیشہ جاؤ جاؤ
آخر اک روز لو گئے ہم
اے مہر لقا مثال سایہ
تجھ میں اپنے کو کھو گئے ہم
اپنے آمد و رفت موج دریا
جاتے نہیں یاں سے گو گئے ہم
کیا شعر ہیں آب دار معروفؔ
گویا موتی پرو گئے ہم
